Food and Beverage Manager: Adrian Simmonds
Adrian joined Canterbury in September 2023 after a long and distinguished career in the catering industry at a number of notable clubs.
He started work as chef at Frobisher's Wine Bar in his home town of Maidstone, progressing to become area manager for the group, who also owned the Canterbury Tales, opposite the Marlowe Theatre, and the Hollywood Bowl in Gillingham.
After 14 years Adrian moved on to The London Club, first as bar manager and later food and beverage manager. A spell at Royal Blackheath was followed by a move to The Buckinghamshire, near Uxbridge, but commuting from home took its toll and he joined Littlestone, where he spent six years before Covid arrived.
He took redundancy and planned a few months off but an offer to help out The London Club at the English Open in 2021 led to Adrian's appointment as the Director of Hospitality for the next two years before another planned break was interrupted by a call from Canterbury.
Adrian's portfolio includes managing the catering for up to 100,000 spectators and corporate guests at two European Opens, three European Seniors' Tour events, one World Matchplay, an English Open, two Ladies' European Tour events and two Golf Live Festivals from his time at The London Club and The Buckinghamshire.
He can also play a bit, with a handicap low of six that crept up to 10 in more recent years.
